About the Session
FST + Deep Tissue Combo
What to Expect on my Table
The sessions on my table are clothed and comfortable. I combine specific deep tissue techniques within the glutes, hips, shoulders and thighs with Fascial Stretch Therapy to address either your overall tension, or a specific ailment. The ratio of stretch to massage completely depends on your needs and expectations. I always send my clients away with foam rolling homework and suggestions when needed. ;)
About Deep Tissue
While I don’t use lotions, sheets, aromatherapy, etc, my sessions are heavily influenced by my 13-year career as a massage therapist. I use slow, deep compression techniques in the glutes and hips to release hip and low back dysfunction, as well as specific techniques in the rotator cuff for shoulder issues. The deep tissue part of our sessions are relaxing and incredibly important to your overall success on the table.
About Fascial Stretch Therapy
FST is a clothed, table-based stretch session that gently unwinds the connective tissue so the body becomes more open. The fascia, also known as the connective tissue, is a matrix that winds throughout everything in the body and houses nerves, lymph fluid and blood vessels. When the fascia becomes constricted, the entire fascial system is affected, and can result in poor circulation, stiffness and most of all, ambiguous, chronic pain.
About Maggie
Fascial Stretch Therapy / Clinical Deep Tissue / Foam Rolling
Monday - Wednesday 10-3
Hello, I'm Maggie. Before the pandemic, I owned and operated Oakland Body Therapy and co-owned the fitness studio it was nestled in, Remedy Barre and Foam Rolling. While Remedy has dissolved completely, OBT has simplified into a solo practice of my own.
I'm a certified Massage Practitioner, Fascial Stretch Therapist, barre fitness, stretch and foam rolling instructor. I’m the creator of Release Technique, and I focus on bringing mobility and ease of movement to my clients through stretch, deep tissue therapy and foam rolling. I really, really enjoy empowering people to take charge of their bodies and learn to heal their pain. I've been practicing massage therapy since 2005 and I'm grateful to be in a field that offers such broad opportunity for change, growth and tangible improvements.
Since the birth of my son in April of 2019, I have handed over my massage clients to Leala Ruland, but maintain FST appointments as well as private self-massage sessions. If you’re looking for massage therapy, contact Leala here.
